Blackbird Turdus merula
One of the most common and widely spread of British birds. They are the noisiest of the thrush family especially towards roosting time in winter with their staccato dik-dik-dik. However, no bird’s song is more musical, mellow or flute-like, though this often ends in a jarring screech. Both sexes lift their tails over their backs on alighting.
Medium small (25cm) - ground feeder.
