Chaffinch Fringilla coelebs

Found throughout Britain, the Chaffinch is the most common land bird. It cannot be mistaken for any other bird with its slate-blue head, pink breast and snowy-white shoulder and wing-patches. The female is mainly greenish in colour but is also distinguished by white shoulder flashes. Its distinctive metallic pink call also helps identify this regular visitor. Small (15cm), feeds from bird table or feeder.
